  1. I behold a small dark orb, wheeling in an abyss of infinite space. It is minute among a myriad vast ones, dark amid a myriad bright ones.
  2. I who comprehend in myself all the vast and the minute, all the bright and the dark, have mitigated the brilliance of mine unutterable splendour, sending forth V.V.V.V.V. as a ray of my light, as a messenger unto that small dark orb.

  11. First, there are many and diverse conditions of life upon this earth. In all of these is some seed of sorrow. Who can escape from sickness and from old age and from death?
  12. We are come to save our fellows from these things. For there is a life intense with knowledge and extreme bliss which is untouched by any of them.
  13. To this life we attain even here and now. The adepts, the servants of V.V.V.V.V., have attained thereunto.
  14. It is impossible to tell you of the splendours of that to which they have attained.
    Little by little, as your eyes grow stronger, will we unveil to you the ineffable glory of the Path of the Adepts, and its nameless goal.
  15. Even as a man ascending a steep mountain is lost to sight of his friends in the valley, so must the adept seem. They shall say: He is lost in the clouds. But he shall rejoice in the sunlight above them, and come to the eternal snows.
  16. Or as a scholar may learn some secret language of the ancients, his friends shall say: «Look! he pretends to read this book. But it is unintelligible—it is nonsense.» Yet he delights in the Odyssey, while they read vain and vulgar things.
  17. We shall bring you to Absolute Truth, Absolute Light, Absolute Bliss.
  18. Many adepts throughout the ages have sought to do this; but their words have been perverted by their successors, and again and again the Veil has fallen upon the Holy of Holies.
  19. To you who yet wander in the Court of the Profane we cannot yet reveal all; but you will easily understand that the religions of the world are but symbols and veils of the Absolute Truth. So also are the philosophies. To the adept, seeing all these things from above, there seems nothing to choose between Buddha and Mohammed, between Atheism and Theism.
  20. The many change and pass; the one remains. Even as wood and coal and iron burn up together in one great flame, if only that furnace be of transcendent heat; so in the alembic of this spiritual alchemy, if only the zelator blow sufficiently upon his furnace all the systems of earth are consumed in the One Knowledge.
  21. Nevertheless, as a fire cannot be started with iron alone, in the beginning one system may be suited for one seeker, another for another.
  22. We therefore who are without the chains of ignorance, look closely into the heart of the seeker and lead him by the path which is best suited to his nature unto the ultimate end of all things, the supreme realization, the Life which abideth in Light, yea, the Life which abideth in Light.

There are some points to consider for those who are not an aspirant for long. What makes it hard for aspirants to persist on this path? One of the major reasons is that we only provide a blueprint with Oaths and tasks surrounded with books related to several practices.

The aspirant should find out for her/ himself how to put all this in their daily work. They also should work out ‘how’ they will operate. We don’t have ‘lessons’ so to speak. The lessons will open up while one is on the path and ding their work. And those lessons are different for each individual. We don’t have the industrial way that all people should do the same ‘lessons’ in order to progress like in old Aeonic schools like the old GD system. No, we should cut our own way through the jungle. Hope to find the easer eggs hidden in our system. If you look for a structure of ‘lessons’ and if you aren not able to think for yourself this path isn’t something for you. Hence see all those books ‘how to’ in Thelema as well! That will not very helpful to think for yourself isn’t it? Beside this, we all know that when people have a certain authority and write about it many tend to follow. Still the written word has lots of power especially when its backed with authority.

As Dion Fortune once said. ‘in occultism is no room for authority’. Take heed of all this carefully. Especially these days with social media etc. Many expose their opinions. And those who shout the hardest and sell the most books seem to have the most authority. But isn’t attainment revealed by what one is? How one does things? How much ego is involved or not? What did the one with authority accomplish? What kind of person is he/she? Actions is what makes us what we are. Words are easy, but words followed by actions claimed says something about the authenticity of the person. Are the words and actions in sync? Or is there a lot of discrepancy?

Thelema is for very many people too ‘hard’ becasue thinking for themselves is hard. And very few people are able to think for themselves. This is also not what we learn at school and in society. What we should do is rigorously get rid of aspects that hold us back from progress and uncover our ‘true nature’ also called “True Will’.

Same is true concerting our Holy Books. You should find out yourself what they mean to you, what they do to you. No one can tell and while you are doing the work, learning your chapter in due time the inner meaning will be revealed to you since something inside you ‘knows’ the meaning. The language is in such a way that it take attention to our subconsciousness and not to our ‘rational’ mind. Like symbols. The Holy Books are written in words and are as symbols. And they can mean very different from others. Thus understanding is for every individual ‘very’ different. As an unique ‘star’ we also will have unique insights that help us along the way. The insights and glimpse will pop up when you do certain work.

The ‘work’ itself will uncover for you wat will work for you. No one else can tell. I know for many that is very hard but magick cannot be taught in ‘lessons’. it’s an organic evolvement of the aspirant in his/her unique way.

Pathworking with LAM on the 19th Path

A quote from my diary from a Pathworking with LAM on the 19th Path.

LAM working exploration of the 19th Path the 4th time. Started with full Samekh astrally. Then I started the process as usual with LAM. I entered the void or space. From that point on I stepped into the image of Atu XI. I was in the wasteland as before on a large field, everything was brownish red like on the card. I had a staff in the form of a snake and I wore a white robe. And I had a belt in the form of a ouroboros like on the magician’s card of the BOTA deck. A green ouroboros. I took my time and then I called in the genii in the usual way. I saw him floating in the air in the form of a ‘lion serpent’. I asked the genii to show me more on this path related to ABRAHADABRA. He complied and then I saw serpents on the horizon heading towards the red sphere like on the picture of the card. I took my time to let it all happen then I casted a circle with my staff in the sand. And from above it looked like the symbol of the Sun. A circle with a dot ‘me’ in the middle. Then I looked up and I saw the glyph I received last time the angle above in in 3D and below me the crescent as a cup like on that glyph but all in 3D and big. I saw the connection from this point with the abyss. Then I saw an opening  that was the opening to connect with Binah. It was all black and I saw many  golden pyramids. The so called city of pyramids. It was a similar image I saw when I did a trance work about 11 years ago. Then it was showed to me by Shekinah. I was standing half way the path of the 19th path as a footstep to peek beyond. I felt enormous powers[1] that made me light headed. The sacrifice from life (blood) in the crescent to make the upward movement to the supernals on top of the Tree. It was an intense experience . After a while I went back to the astral temple. Thanked the Genii for its help. I was a bit nauseous because of the intense and powerful  energies. I have had that experience on this level before which is in fact a positive sign. There I closed the session in the usual way. Duration of this pathworking was 25 minutes.

 

After the session I suddenly got inspired to connect the points from the glyph to the spheres of the Tree of Life. I use a transparent sheet to draw it. This is a picture of it.

 

 

After I drew it and connected everything I saw that it looked like an inverse Tree of Life but with the spheres on the same place. Only the drawing is different. And it also has a meaning as with all those things. Also a relation with the word TRINC and ABRAHADABRA. The word TRINC has its letters in Geburah and Chesed = the 19th Path. Yod and Nun in letters. The letters R and C on Chokmah and Binah and the T on top, in Kether. The numeral value according to Grant  = 680[2]. However its not clear how he calculated it. If I see the letters its 400, 200, 10, 50 and 8. Also related to the Atu’s; Universe XXI, the Sun  XIX, the Hermit IX, Death XIII and the Chariot VII. If I add all those numbers it makes 69.

Also there were some verses from our Holy books Liber VII in relation to this pathworking what popped up in my head.

 

Prologue verse 10.

 

The perfume of Pan pervading, the taste of him utterly filling my mouth, so that the tongue breaks forth into a weird and monstrous speech’.

 

Chapter VI verse 59.

 

‘And the fish shall be sacrificed to Thee and the strong man crucified for Me, and Thou and I will kiss, and atone for the wrong of the Beginning; yea, for the wrong of the beginning’.

 

Obviously its part of an extended Work I did for months and more months to come with the aid of LAM on the Paths of the Tree of life with the help of the Genii of Liber 231.  Its published to show the reader  the idea and how symbols can develop. You should now that all these images and visions came at the moment and that I had no idea what to expect. Actually the less one expects the better and more accurate the information is. An open mind and in a high state of trance.

Based on The Book of the Law. And the Stele of revealing.

 

  1. Preliminary practice banishing rituals as preferred (LBRP or Star Ruby or another according to one’s tradition.). Meditation. Calm abiding for about 10 minutes. Or more if one seems fit. Use implements of your choice. For incense I will suggest the incense of Abramelin, and the Oil of Abramelin.

 

  1. Star Sapphire ritual, or the traditional invoking lesser hexagram ritual. Additionally one also can do the Middle Pillar Ritual after this.

 

  1. Sit in front of the Stele of revealing or the Tarot Trump XX The Aeon from the Thoth Tarot deck. Gaze on the picture for about 5 minutes. Just gaze nothing else.

 

  1. Close your eyes. And rise up with your astral body. Enter your astral Temple or place what you prefer.

 

  1. Once in your astral temple open all your inner senses. Try to experience everything you see with the 5 astral senses as intense as possible. Then face East.

 

  1. Do the preliminary invocation from Liber Samekh. As intense as possible. When that is done take some time to experience the changes in the atmosphere. Don’t judge what you see hear or what not. Just let it happen.

 

  1. Then in the East visualize a large door with the picture of the Stele on it or the Card The Aeon XX.

 

  1. Then start chanting the Mantra from the Stele[2]:

‘Aka Dua ,

Tuf ur biu,

Bi aa chefu, 

Dude ner af an nuteru’.

 

  1. Recite or read the following verse from the Book of the Law Verse 37 – 38 Chapter III. Verse 37.

 

I adore thee in the song:—

I am the Lord of Thebes, and I

     The inspired forth-speaker of Mentu;

For me unveils the veilèd sky,

     The self-slain Ankh-af-na-khonsu

Whose words are truth. I invoke, I greet

     Thy presence, O Ra-Hoor-Khuit!

Unity uttermost showed!

     I adore the might of Thy breath,

Supreme and terrible God,

     Who makest the gods and death

To tremble before Thee—

     I, I adore thee!

Appear on the throne of Ra!

     Open the ways of the Khu!

Lighten the ways of the Ka!

Verse 38

(So that thy light is in me; & its red flame is as a sword in my hand to push thy order. There is a secret door that I shall make to establish thy way in all the quarters, (these are the adorations, as thou hast written), as it is said: )

  1. Remain in silence. Imagine you enveloped yourself with the brilliance light of the Stele. Let it enter your whole body[3].

 

  1. Stay in the receptive state of mind for a while and then close the session. Write down your experiences in your magical diary.

[1] As suggested to me in a working I did with LAM and exploring the 31the Path of Shin. The Genii Shabnax-odobor suggested to work this out. The Word AshNaHa came to me during the Working and has many meanings and realtions to the 31st Path but also to this ritual.

[2] One can choose a personal form like 93 times, or 11 times with great intensity. Adding any visualizations and/ or tonal variations as you seem fit.

[3] If you do this practice for someone else imaging the person standing in front of you and let the radiant light from the Stele enter his or her body. You also can extend this to more persons, a group or something you thing that needs some extra ‘power’. You can add anything you think that you want.

A.’.A.’.’Outer college’ studie groep.

In het kader van de voorbereiding op het examen voor de ‘student grade’ willen wij een ‘outer college’ vormen in Nederland. De reden hiervoor is dat veel mensen het examen niet halen omdat ze niet aan de eisen voldoen, de stof niet echt kunnen plaatsen en niet de skills hebben om de literatuur te bestuderen. Plus om die abstracties om te zetten in praktische middelen naar zelfverwerkelijking.

De grooste misvatting is dat onze Order vooral intellectueel is, dat is zeker niet het geval, echter men moet wel zaken in harmonie brengen. Hoofd, handen en hart. Dit zie je terug in alle tradities. Een Druide kon pas verder als hij als bard een bepaald niveau had bereikt. Wij daarentegen willen ons pad vanuit het perspectief van ‘scientific illuminism’ kaderen om zo ook charlatans te weren, en eigen realisaties steeds te toetsen. Hoeveel ‘nep’ magiërs zijn er niet? Dit wordt bij ons weg gefilterd omdat men dan gewoon niet verder kan als er geen ‘bewijs’ is wat men claimt te hebben behaald. Aan de vruchten herkent gij de boom. Iemand die zegt al ver te zijn en zijn leven niet op orde heeft mist nog een belangrijk stuk in zijn/haar realisatie.

 

Daarom gaan we een ‘outer college’ vormen binnen ons Clerkhouse. De bedoeling is dat potentiele aspiranten uit Nederland en België de mogelijkheid hebben om in samenwerking met ons zich grondig voor te bereiden op de eerste stap als ‘Student’. De voorbereiding op het examen en wat daarvoor nodig is. We willen 2x per jaar bij elkaar komen om zo de aspiranten te woord te staan en eventueel hulp te bieden. Echter wat zeer belangrijk is dat in de “new Aeon, men zelf leert na te denken en niet uitgaat van autoriteit, en meningen van anderen maar eerder leert juist op de eigen inzicht te vertrouwen in de aangegeven kaders. Als basis willen we ook het boek van James Eshelman gaan gebruiken ‘The mystical and magical system of the A.’.A.’.. Een zeer handig boek om de structuur van de orde te leren kennen en om op verder te borduren. Als je belangstelling hebt stuur ons dan een mail. Dan hoor je verder wat de vereisten zijn om je te kunnen aanmelden. Wellicht ter overvloede. Aan de lessen zijn geen kosten verbonden. Als het op een andere lokatie is wat we moeten huren en faciliteren dan vragen wij wel een bijdrage om de onkosten samen te dragen.

The magic Wand.

This short epistel is about the magical wand. This instrument is one of the most known of the weapons of the magician. Also because of Hollywood productions and the popularity of Harry Potter one has a popular idea what a magical wand is. There is obviously a serious side on the story.

 

The wand is traditionally attributed to the element of fire. The traditional wand in the Golden dawn is the so called fire wand. There are many different wands for different purposes, a Lotus wand, Fire Wand, Solomonic magic wands, etc. Its the instrument to direct the Will of the magician. This Will is also connected to the Oath which is an affirmation of the magician in line with his True Will. Therefor the Oath and the wand are connected. Concerning the Will Crowley writes:

“It is therefore necessary to develop the will to its highest point, even though the last task but one is the total surrender of this will. Partial surrender of an imperfect will is of no account in Magick.

The will being a lever, a fulcrum is necessary; this fulcrum is the main aspiration of the student to attain. All wills which are not dependent upon this principal will are so many leakages; they are like fat to the athlete.

The majority of the people in this world are ataxic; they cannot coordinate their mental muscles to make a purposed movement. They have no real will, only a set of wishes, many of which contradict others. The victim wobbles from one to the other (and it is no less wobbling because the movements may occasionally be very violent) and at the end of life the movements cancel each other out. Nothing has been achieved; except the one thing of which the victim is not conscious: the destruction of his own character, the confirming of indecision. Such an one is torn limb from limb by Choronzon.”

How then is the will to be trained? All these wishes, whims, caprices, inclinations, tendencies, appetites, must be detected, examined, judged by the standard of whether they help or hinder the main purpose, and treated accordingly.

And:

‘Vigilance and courage are obviously required. I was about to add self-denial, in deference to conventional speech; but how could I call that self-denial which is merely denial of those things which hamper the self? It is not suicide to kill the germs of malaria in one’s blood.

Now there are very great difficulties to be overcome in the training of the mind. Perhaps the greatest is forgetfulness, which is probably the worst form of what the Buddhists call ignorance. Special practices for training the memory may be of some use as a preliminary for persons whose memory is naturally poor. In any case the Magical Record prescribed for Probationers of the A.’.A.’. is useful and necessary.

Above all the practices of Liber III must be done again and again, for these practices develop not only vigilance but those inhibiting centres in the brain which are, according to some psychologists, the mainspring of the mechanism by which civilized man has raised himself above the savage.

So far it has been spoken, as it were, in the negative. Aaron’s rod has become a serpent, and swallowed the serpents of the other Magicians; it is now necessary to turn it once more into a rod”. (Page 62 – 63 Liber ABA).

All these parts including the magical Oath are connected to our “Will”. To train this ‘Will’ one starts with binding him/herself with an Oath. The name of the Magical Wand is the Magical Oath. A confirmation of our highest aspirations together with the chosen  motto, the Probationer should find. Once this Oath has been taken together with the energy of ‘going’ the Motto the Probationer starts his/her work. Then it seems that the whole universe is trying to avoid to do this Will, obstacles arise, our daily life seem to ruin our practices, we experience problems at school, at work or in our private life. All this come up and can be a part of matters that should be overcome. Then our daily practices, keeping the diary, doing our meditations, control our thoughts and emotions, practice Yoga are all part of this. The trick is to continue the work (to will) and not be distracted by all those obstacles and issues. Its easier said then done but this is the only way to do it. One cannot just conjure a spirit and ask to vanish all our problems. No one can, no god, angel or demon, we should work on our Karma, we should create ‘new’ Karma in order to accomplish the great Work. There is no substitute for this and that means that all the works should be come from inside. We should have our Will focussed and solve all the issues.

Therefore its very important to make up our mind before we get involved into a serious magical order like the A.’.A.’.. Too many people tend to think its all very romantic and willy wooly love and light. Yes, for the New age like groups it is. Its not within our Noble Order. A lot of commitment is asked and our actions are not with our results. We cannot see beforehand what the results are since we thread undiscovered territory of our mind and being. Therefore is the development of the Will important together with the directing instrument of our Wand. Care should be taken to formulate our Will, taking the Oath and execute our practices to deepen those insights and to map out our own inner life. In order to know our strengths and weaknesses. It all start with little things, little signs of awareness of executing will power on the long run. Not occasionally willed ambitions. No long term willed actions in order to be united with our True Will, (Knowledge and conversation of our Holy Guardian Angel) and act accordingly like  King. Like our Order is selecting the fit and eliminate  the unfit, likewise we should do with inner processes to become a perfect vessel for a God to indwell.

Doe wat ge wilt zal de gehele Wet zijn.

In ‘One star in Sight’, een A.’.A.’. publicatie in klasse B wordt een uiteenzetting gehouden over de structuur van ‘De Grote witte Broederschap’ bekend onder de naam A.’.A.’.. In equinox IV  nummer 1 staat een essay van Crowley over ‘occultisme’. Hier kun je het On occultism lezen. Is nog niet beschikbaar in het Nederlands maar dat zal wel komen in de toekomst. Het is duidelijk dat er veel wordt gevraagd van de student in kwestie. De student zal gewapend moeten zijn op alle vlakken. Gissen, fantasie, vaagheden zal de student niet kwalificeren. We hanteren de methode van wetenschappelijk onderzoek om tot verlichtende inzichten te komen. Bekend onder de naam “Wetenschappelijke illuminatie” (“Scientific illuminism”). Tegenwoordig maar ook in het verleden waren en zijn er veel charlatans die zich uitmaken voor ‘leraar’ of voor ‘Adept’ maar het niet zijn. Met name in het ‘New Age’ circuit speelt dit maar ook in sommige magische groepen en organisaties waar ook soms hoge bedragen worden gevraagd voor lessen.

Aard van ons Werk.

And thus in his actions a magician can be detected since he/she acts out of a mind that is under control, a disciplined mind. Present, focussed, vigilant, and having the overview. Many people tend to talk/ write about their realizations. Actually that is not necessary, its reflected in what and how one acts. On the fruits thy will know the tree.

On Page 40 from  “The Law is for all” (New Falcon publications 1996 edited by Louis Wilkinson and Hymenaeus Beta) Comment on verse 37 chapter I from Liber Al Crowley wrote:

“To the beginner I would like to offer this program:

  1. Furnish your mind as completely as possible with the knowledge of how to inspect and to control it.
  2. Train your body to obey your mind, and not to distract its attention.
  3. Control your mind to devote yourself wholly to discover your True Will.
  4. Explore the course of that Will till you reach its source, your Silent Self.
